When it all seems worth it!

Sometimes, you receive love that is totally unexpected. It was the time I was taking a break from medicine last year, to pursue music. On my final day at work in AIIMS, a farewell had been organized in the evening. As I was exchanging greetings with everyone, this young guy, the son of a fellow Cardiology faculty, came up to me. I had only ever wished 'hello' to this kid before. Then his father told me that he follows my music and is a "fan", a term I still feel embarrassed about!! He then handed over a neatly typed sheet of paper to me. It was a poem "A Gurpreetian Rhapsody". I was pleasantly surprised to see the title. But what made me feel so proud and humbled at the same time was the content and its meaning.

When you are leaving the comfort of a secure, well paying job to follow your passion, its almost as if you are leaving a pond of familiar faces and well-meaning "fish", to enter a vast ocean full of "sharks". But its such gestures of affection you receive from unexpected quarters that push you and tell you "All will be well, just hang in there".

Thank you, my young friend. Now I am your fan, Mr Badri Vinayak Mishra!
